Dozaleh (or Dozale) is a double-piped clarinet of Iran. It corresponds to Arab arghul. This is a small woodwind instrument made of reed. On the other hand, it has a sharp timbre, a strong sound in high pitches reminding us the sound of bagpipe. Both pipes of dozaleh have the same number of fingerholes (five or six) and produce the same diatonic scale. One of the pipes of dozaleh may serve as a drone while the other one plays the melody. Dozaleh is a folk music instrument which is often accompanied by tonbak (tombak). This instrument is mostly used in happy ceremonies.
